MerbCamp

It's just starting to get cold in Boston, so some of the Assembly team decided it would be the right time to head off to sunny San Diego for MerbCamp.

No, there wasn't any marshmallow roasting, and playing Mario Cart on the ultra high definition million dollar projector at UCSD didn't strike us as outdoorsy, but that said, the pioneering spirit was certainly alive and well among attendees.

That's because as a framework still pre-1.0, developers have had to make incredibly gutsy decisions in choosing Merb for production applications. However, we (and everyone else at the camp), we're pleased to hear that Merb is officially about to hit it's first 1.0 Release Candidate.

And that's good news. As huge fans of the Merb framework, Assembly has already leveraged its power for clients before, but now with Merb 1.0 on the horizon, we're considering using it for the majority of what we do.

Anyyway, the talks top-notch and so was the crowd. We loved talking with the various companies and developers who have been using Merb already and sharing stories (as well as beta framework jokes, ha!).

Finally, it's worth mentioning that the vegetarian options were abound at the conference, so much that we were able to sucker Foy into eating one of the local fish taco.

They were good, but we still miss Boston's El Pelon.

Can Haz Framework Scalability?

So the humorous CanRailsScale.com went up earlier this week with nothing but a giant "NO". Since it gained amazing Google search rank so quickly, we decided we had to fight back.
